The last offshoots of the Eastern Murge characterise the part of the territory that lies on the boundaries of the provinces of Bari and Taranto.
Here the landscape takes on fantastic tones: from the rocky crags the thick forest of Ulivi slopes gently down towards the sea, while on the highest hills the little white towns of the Valle d'Itria stand compact, looking towards the Adriatic.
They are white and blue towns: Cisternino, Ceglie Messapica, Carovigno, Ostuni and, lying on the plain of the Ulivi, Fasano.
Old towns, wedged in the extraordinary, unique table mountain of the trulli and linked to one another by a thread of whitewash, the same whitewash that is applied generously at regular intervals, giving the old districts a particularly intriguing appearance.
Historic town centres built of light and whiteness, visiting them is an adventure of the spirit, an unforeseeable experience, unique and unforgettable.
An intricate tangle of narrow winding steps going up and down, white houses crammed tightly together, a series of arches and viaducts. The bright monochrome is interrupted by patches of golden ochre: the facades of the churches, convents and old palaces, celebrating the triumph of local stone.
